More Information

Ridge Road

Ridge Road Campground, one of the first built of J. Strom Thurmond Lake, is situated on the tip of the prominent peninsula jutting into the lake. Ridge Road campsites offer some of the most beautiful views of Thurmond Lake. Nearby Cherokee Recreation Area offers group shelters, picnic facilities, a five-lane launching ramp and two beaches.

A boat ramp adjacent to the campground provides access to the 70,000-acre Thurmond Lake, which is the largest Corps of Engineers Lake east of the Mississippi River. A coin operated washer and dryer, playground equipment, and a dump station are located within the campground.

A park attendant is located at the entrance of the campground and is available to assist campers.
